Our Calling

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the Lord has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory."

Sound Mind Ministries (SMM) exists to introduce individuals to the healing power of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We guide individuals as they invite the Holy Spirit to comfort and free them from debilitating coping systems that maintain harmful emotions, beliefs and behaviors. According to James 1:8, a double-minded person is unstable in all his ways. We believe that wounds, traumas, and lie-based thinking produce potentially destructive emotional systems that result in being double-minded. Our desire is that of the Lord—for you to “know truth in your inner most being" (Psalm 51:6). In order to reveal truth, we use tools of the Holy Spirit, including prophecy, words of knowledge, sozo and invitation of Jesus to heal and restore.

We want people to see salvation (sozo) as a fully eternal reward, extending into the past, including the present, and stretching through the future. We want individuals to live in sozo—continually saved, healed and delivered in every area of life. In order to accomplish this, Sound Mind Ministries counsels individuals, trains counselors and leaders to use inner healing processes and tools, and helps establish effective inner healing teams within churches. In order to facilitate training, we also desire to develop and distribute materials regarding inner healing.

A Brief history

Peggy Yawn has been involved in Christian Counseling for over 25 years. Peggy became a Christian through Scope Ministry in Oklahoma City where she also was trained by various counselors including Dr. Robert McGee, author of, “Search for Significance”. Peggy then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and met her husband Vernon. Then she went on to Bethel Church In Redding CA. Where she was a staff councelor under Dr. Danny Silk and Pastor Bill Johnson. She traveled and mistered with Pastor's Bill Johnson, Larry Randolph, and Kris Vallotton. In 2003,God moved her to Tennesse to be the Family Life Pastor at Grace Center . Some of her duties included heading up the Sozo Team. She and her daughters now have Sound Mind Ministries in Franklin, Tn. They do extensive counceling, teaching, and training. Through the years Peggy ,Vernon, and daughters have been involved with various movements in the body of Christ and have experienced the wonderful healing influence of the Holy Spirit . We believe that the ministry of love and encouragement is for every believer to receive and give from the heart of our Father.
